ANTIQUE SCRIMSHAW NEEDLE HOLDER
Beautifully
pierced whale ivory needle holder - mounted on black paper. Intricately pierced with
designs of hearts, stars, and dots. Made to hold two needles. This type was often sewn to
a larger piece of fabric (thread holes around the edge).
American
origin - Circa 1840 - 1870.
Superb
condition - (considering its fragileness). Old repair to bottom right scroll.
